The horticultural industry faces a staggering annual loss of 1.5 billion due to labour shortages, impacting revenue and crop quality. The challenges arise from the high cost and limited availability of skilled labour, coupled with the physically demanding nature of horticultural tasks. To address this multifaceted issue and meet the rising demand for high-quality crops, Bosman Van Zaal introduces robotics.
In a groundbreaking effort to combat labour shortages and improve crop yield quality and quantity, Bosman Van Zaal leverages its expertise in automation with the Crea-Tech Robotics brand. Since 1998, the company has been at the forefront of automating upstream and downstream processes for growers worldwide.
Automating processes
Bosman Van Zaal has been successful in providing automated packaging solutions for the horticulture industry for over 20 years. That's why we are not too shy to say that we are the packaging specialists. A great example of one such process that we can automate with robotics is handle placing. Our Six Pack Handle Placer automatically places labels as handles on six packs and by doing so, it saves 2 FTE and has a return on investment of 2,5 years.
“This six pack handle placer, installed at Van der Salm lavender grower in Boskoop, can process about 2,700 six packs per hour”, explains Wouter Verhoef, Bosman Van Zaal robotics expert.
Whitepaper
Bosman Van Zaal's commitment to overcoming labour and quality challenges is encapsulated in a comprehensive whitepaper that outlines the transformative advantages of robotics in horticulture. The whitepaper sheds light on how robotics can mitigate inconsistencies, contamination risks, product losses, and resource wastage associated with manual labour.
